Who would have guessed that participating in the Cash for Clunker program could be such a drama?
On Thursday we went to a local dealership to take a look at the 2010 Prius and to see how we can trade in the Landover. When we got home, we got word that the Clunker program was almost out of money and would be halted midnight Thursday. On Friday, the House voted to add $2 billion into the program and the Senate will vote on Monday.
Then came the frantic calls on Friday night from the Prius salesman to come and trade in the clunker because he thought the program would surly last until the weekend. Today, Saturday, we drove to the Toyota dealership in mid-afternoon.
You would never guess that it was a car dealership. Seemed more like a zoo! There were people everywhere, in the hundreds. There were lots of old, old cars. And of course, a line to SEE a salesman.
When we finally saw a salesman, all the low end Prius were gone! The color that we like was gone too! Somehow, our salesman made a call and was able to secure the last one for us from another salesman who was holding it for his customer. I don't want to bore you with the details of the next 3 hours but when we finally left the dealership with the new car, 4 and 1/2 hours were gone!!!
It was quite an experience but we welcome the new addition to our family!
Thanks mum! Sad to see el Senor go, but yes, definitely welcoming our new addition!! (: glad all that drama is done with too!! phhheeeww
