Yesterday, I had a Feel Good Day (FGD). Nothing earth shaking happened, and yet nothing un-shook the earth. So why not? We all deserve a few of these FGD once in a while.
Thursdays - my off day from work. It started as usual - going to the bank, markets, bakery etc. Then I remembered I had received a 20% off BD coupon from Macy's and a $25 gift certificate from my Macy charge card. There is nothing more sinful than letting a good coupon go to waste. You know what they say - the more you buy, the more you save. That's my life time motto.
Anyway, shopping I went. After about an hour, I emerged with a purple cashmere sweater. I probably have at least 5-6 of them in different colors/patents. I used to pay around $60 for each of them. Yesterday, it was listed at $130, but on sale for about $108. After 20% discount, it was $86 plus tax. After the $25 gift certificate, I ended up paying around $70. What a deal! What a steal! If you are still with me on the math, you know I paid more on this sweater than before. Hey, but I FELT GOOD, and that's what matters! I used up the coupon and the certificate. Nothing was wasted. See how frugal I was!
It doesn't take much to get someone in a shopping spree! The more you save, the more you spent. It is a vicious cycle. Ha! Ha!
ReplyDeleteOooo you got an MJ sweater?!?! So jealous! I wore my MJ shirt today :) Niiice!!! Yup, I go shopping tomr morning (try to buy something at GUESS)!! :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteJen, MJ sweaters do not go for $130, more like $310! It was just a regular Macy brand sweater. But I love it.

ReplyDeletePuzzled, I heard your dgt went to study abroad. You don't have empty nest yet, oui? Anytime you want a FDG, I can write something up for you. I am always good for a laugh. Is that a good thing? Not sure.
ReplyDeleteNo, one more to go in two year... Junior in HS. Not quite know how to deal with empty nest... any advice in advance? Yes, love your blogs and corresponding comments. Your girls are most lively in their responses. Cheers!
